I finally got around to downloading Version 418.6 today, which you can download here. It took longer to download than updates of past - or maybe my computer is just feeling feisty. I heard some things about it thanks to the Latest News & Release Forums so I was a bit hesitant to upgrade.

The only new thing that comes with this update are a bunch of new bugs and a pallet to use to change the background color of the dressing room (not to be confused with the Shopping Dressing Room). Well la-dee-da. Too bad IMVU has still ignored my pleadings and they have yet to remove that horrid shadowing from the dressing room. I will give them small props, however. It does look as if they toned it down slightly - or maybe my eyes are just getting old.

Unfortunately, the dressing room for your 2.0 shopping experience does not have the new color changer. Figures.

Just downloaded version 416.0 for IMVU 2.0 and apparently in the knick of time to catch IMVU just before they announced the new features via Twitter. (In fact, I started writing this and then caught them announcing it! heehee)

So what do we have here? We'll start off with what I am most happy about - a "More Information" link when shopping. This link leads directly to the product page via website so we finally have a correlation between the 2.0 shopping experience and the "old" way of doing things. It is my understanding that this won't last forever. There will eventually be an even newer way of shopping in due time that involves everything - including product pages, to be integrated into the 2.0 client.

Next up, we can finally use Triggers in the new dressing room. So you can finally trigger you pose sets and check them out before purchasing or see if your potential buy will clip, interfere or whatever with poses you plan to use. Yay! It's actually kind of neat as they have added a colored bar (it's sort of a pastel yellow on my screen) around the icon of the item you are wearing / trying with a list of the triggers above the item. Meaning, you don't even have to go to the product page website side to find out what they are! Kudos IMVU.

Of course, just after I get done writing a post about the concerns we're facing in the economy because there are too many credits in the economy, IMVU adds a big section in which to sell their grossly overpriced credits. Just what we need - IMVU pulling credits from thin air to sell to the newbies who conveniently know nothing about resellers because shout outs no longer exist in the client. But hey, that's another topic entirely. Don't even get me started!

As most of the Content Creating community knows, on June 8th, an issue rose about the use of dynamic content on product pages - things like coding from YouTube.com, Slide.com and other various 3rd party websites. In order to address the problem, IMVU decided upon taking the ability to use such coding from non-Pro developers on June 11th.

The use of dynamic content is officially back for both Pro and non-Pro alike as per the post by Senior Community Manager, Jamidiaz in the official IMVU blog post Product Detail Page Update. It's great news, but for the Pro developers who have continued to use their fancy codes the last couple of weeks, a new challenges has risen.

As seen in the next image, courtesy of the Official IMVU Blog, you can see that all coding is now restricted to IMVU's original description box. Personally, I'm shocked that it took this long for IMVU to take the ability to decorate our product pages away from us.


My standpoint is that I have been creating on IMVU long before users like DeMo, Ange, Lollirot and myself started the product decorating trend. I made my mark on IMVU without the use of fancy coding and I believe that it is possible to make a name for yourself here without the e-glitter. However, some developers are still upset over the loss of their hard work, special product page graphics and marketing aspects - enough so that many are calling it quits.

My word of advice - Don't just quit. I started developing because I enjoyed doing it. That should be your main concern. If nothing else, view this change as a leveling of the playing field. Sell your talent and your products - not your fancy product pages.

And all the world rejoiced! - Or maybe just the Content Creating Community. Tiers are finally updated for everyone who is eligible to be updated!

As of 3:30pm PDT, tiers have not been updated. So much for IMVU's claims of us seeing an update by "morning". Guess it's my fault for not asking "Who's morning!?"

This is making for some irritated and impatient developers who are desperate to see if they made Pro status (or lost it for that matter) this month. If you'd like to join me in the constant refreshing of the tiers info page, feel free. I could use a buddy in my quest.

It's time for another IMVU Client Update. The next version is 415.6 and it is said to fix the inventory refreshing problem and the source of the crashes related to avatar cards.

It's the first of the month - which means it's Tier Update Day! As of 11am in California, we're still waiting. Looks like IMVU might be too busy fixing the 2.0 glitches to roll out the Tier Level update.

So what are you expecting yours to be? Is anyone even remotely excited about Tiers any more? I'll be honest and say that I am hoping to push to Tier 7, just to say that I made it, but for most people, once they reach Tier 6, it all sort of loses its glitter.

Edit: As of 1:45 PDT, Tiers have still not been updated. Based on what I am reading in the forums, it looks like a lot of people aren't real happy about it. Guess some people are still excited about Tier levels.

Senior Community Manager, Jamidiaz stated that Tiers will be updated this evening and that because of technical difficulties they have been experiencing, the automated updater for tiers had to be temporarily shut off. Changes in your tier level (if any) should be visible by tomorrow.
